Bellmore-Merrick Musicians Jazz It Up at Festival

Members of the Grand Avenue Middle School and Wellington C. Mepham High School jazz bands recently participated in the 2016 Herricks Jazz Festival.
This is a non-competitive festival in which student groups perform and then receive feedback & critique from an adjudicator. In addition, students had the opportunity to talk with professionals about jazz as an art form, listen to other Long Island high school ensembles and attend a rhythm section workshop.
“It was a great day for our middle school and high school musicians to come together and represent the music departments of the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District,” said Cheryl Fontana, director of Fine & Performing Arts and Adult Education.
