Hadi Aziz, a senior at Sanford H. Calhoun High School, had the unique opportunity to participate in a summer science research program while at the same time attending college-level physics classes at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Aziz was the first high school student admitted to work at one of the prestigious labs at the Dana Farber Cancer Research Center associated with the Harvard Medical School. There he studied Rb (retinoblastoma gene), a tumor suppressor gene that codes for the production of a specific protein, which inhibits excessive cell growth.
