Advanced Science Research Students in eleventh and twelfth grades at Mepham High School were invited by the Hofstra University provost to attend their annual Faculty Research Day the last week in September.

After a brief campus tour, students were given an opportunity to interview Hofstra professors about their research interests.
The presentations included STEM fields along with other disciplines in the humanities.

“More importantly, many of the professors expressed to our teachers how impressed they were with our students,” said Science Chair Patrick Mannion.

Accordingly, Mepham was invited back again next year. Also, Mepham was the only high school invited to this special event.

Science teachers Jeannette Spargifiore and Dr. David Kommor were instrumental in organizing this experience for students.
