Mepham High School’s physics team competed at the 33rd annual Physics Olympics held on March 17 at Farmingdale State College, clinching the overall first-place trophy.

Ailish Egan, Pavan Patel, Will Rosen, Kevin Weber and Zach Weiss competed against a field of 18 well-prepared high school teams from all over Long Island in the the Olympics, which were sponsored by the Long Island Physics Teachers Association.

“The Mepham team earned second-place trophies for the Physics Bowl and the Bowling for Glory events, however they scored so well in all of the events that the team took the overall first-place trophy in what was a very close competition,” said William Leacock, teacher and team adviser.
