The Calhoun High School Wind Ensemble recently returned home from a successful and exciting competition weekend at Disney World in Florida.
The 69-member band took the Best in Class award in the Festival Disney Concert Band in the Triple A (school size) division.

“This is the first time the wind ensemble has won their division in their seven visits dating back to 2005,” said Band Director Edward Tumminelli. The CCVB (Calhoun Colts Varsity Band) placed second overall, out of 14 high school concert bands (all school sizes).

They performed the highly demanding 15-minute suite from “Mass,” by Leonard Bernstein. Performance ensembles from the entire country travel to Orlando to compete in the Festival Disney national music competition.
