Students from Leadership classes at all four high schools in the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District attended the Human Rights Conference at Adelphi University on Jan. 31.

The annual conference, sponsored by the Nassau County Commission on Human Rights, is held “to encourage mutual understanding and respect among all groups in the county and to explore ways to eliminate prejudice, intolerance, bigotry and discrimination.”

Seniors from Mepham, Kennedy, Calhoun High Schools and the district’s Meadowbrook Alternative Program, all participated in workshops relating to immigrant youths, the LGBTQ community, gang awareness and more.
