The district’s  food pantry, dubbed the Community Cupboard, has recently expanded – both in size and service.

They are now serving more than 40 local families bi-weekly and have added shelving and increased available donations. A volunteer effort on Feb. 10 centered on an expansion of space and reorganization of donations.

“It is amazing that our Cupboard has expanded in our short year-and-a-half. It is a true community effort,” said Deputy Superintendent Dr. Mara Bollettieri, who also serves as co-organizer.

Additionally, students and staff from Sanford H. Calhoun High School recently started a new community service-based club called Cluboard, that will serve and benefit the Community Cupboard. Assistant Principal Mark Melkonian is the adviser.
