The Mepham High School Boys Soccer team captured the Class A Nassau County title, defeating Garden City High School, 2-1 on Oct. 31.

“For most of the players on this team, this season has been three years in the making,” explained Coach Zachary Gosse, who is also a teacher at the district’s Meadowbrook Alternative Program.

Gosse spoke of his coaching mantra, “to make progress each and every day.”

“The boys bought into the program and our goals, and as a result have truly become a family,” he added. “The chemistry and love for the game correlates with this season’s results.”

On Nov. 9, elected officials from the Town of Hempstead, Receiver of Taxes Donald Clavin and Councilmember Dennis Dunne, Sr. presented the team with a sign, acknowledging their accomplishment.
