Mepham Boys Soccer Players Earn High Honors

The Mepham High School boys varsity soccer team were honored at the Nassau County awards ceremony on Dec. 4, in addition to the district’s Board of Education meeting the following evening.

Among those honored were: Andrew Weiner, All-American, All-Region, All-State, All-County, Jim Steen Award (County POY), A-1 Conference POY, Newsday All-Long Island; Christopher Cossu, All-State, All-County; Kieran Gilroy, All-County Honorable Mention; Connor Buehler, All-County Honorable Mention; Harrison Davila, All-Conference; Jonathan Gaufman, All-Conference; Corey Lichtman, All-Conference; Brian Willis, All-Conference; and John Berry, Scholar Athlete.

Additionally, coach Zachary Gosse was named Newsday Nassau Coach of the Year, A-1 Conference Coach of the Year.

“You will have that experience forever,” John DeTommaso, superintendent of schools said when he addressed the team and their parents at the Dec. 5 board meeting. “You are going to remember the relationship between each other on and off the field and that’s so special. That’s what makes being a student athlete unbelievable. It gives us such joy that all of you will always have that feeling.”
