Four juniors from the Central High School District have been accepted into the Long Island's Best Juried Art Show at the Heckscher Museum of Art.

Kaitlyn Herlihy and Gianna Valente from Kennedy High School and Grace Bayer and Gianna Jaronczyk from Mepham High School were among the 80 students selected for the only juried exhibition on Long Island that offers high schoolers the opportunity to show their art in a museum setting.

Valente, 17, of Bellmore created her pencil drawing under the guidance of art teacher Vanessa Albaneze, while Herlihy, 17, of Merrick edited her digital photography piece in Mark Booth’s class. Bayer, 17, of Merrick used ink to craft her artwork, while Jaronczyk, 17, of Bellmore utilized a marker medium in Talon Bidermann’s class.

An opening reception will be held on Saturday, April 13, at 5:30 p.m., at the Huntington museum and their artwork will remain on display through May 19.

Prizes will be awarded in numerous categories and are presented at the opening reception and awards ceremony. All exhibiting artists and their teachers will receive full-color catalogues featuring all artwork in the exhibition.
