Merrick Avenue Middle School held their National Geographic GeoBee on Jan. 6.
Eighth-grader Stefan Caiazzo won the competition and qualifies to compete at the state level. Finalists included Petar Ignjatovic and Aidan Murphy.
“Up to 100 of the top test scorers in each state become eligible to compete in their State GeoBee,” explained Kate Caporusso, an assistant principal at Merrick Avenue.
Teacher Christine Mahoney organized the event at Merrick Avenue, along with full support from each member of the Social Studies department.
