On Feb. 11, 17 Bellmore-Merrick Broadcasting students visited NBC Studios in New York for a studio tour and a panel discussion on the floor of the famed studio 8H — the Saturday Night Live Studio.

Sophomores and juniors from the program had the opportunity to talk with Vice President of Studio Operations Mary Beth Scalici, Director of Staging Jim Benjamin, Technical Manager Alina Chaban, Technical Director Gil Muro, Camera Operator Paul Cangialosi and Stage Manager Mark Schmidt.
Scalici remarked how fortunate the students were to be in a program like BMB in high school and how they would "have a leg up on the competition when they begin to look for opportunities in the future."

Junior Emily Rosenberg said being on the trip “really showed her how hard you have to work if you want to move up in the world of broadcasting.”

"It makes me want to work even harder to make BMB more like NBC,” Broadcasting teacher Lisa Kalish commented. "Trips like this are so inspiring for our students and we can't wait to come back next year."
