Kennedy High School artists Matthew Diesing, Madyson Livingston, Lillian Stone, and Joanna Vaccaro were chosen for the prestigious annual Heckscher Museum's Long Island's Best exhibition.
All four of Vanessa Albaneze's students are featured in Long Island’s Best: Young Artists at The Heckscher Museum, which is the only juried exhibition on Long Island that offers high school students the opportunity to show their work in a museum.
Diesing is the first student from Kennedy to ever receive second place "Best in Show." Stone will be receiving an award for "Achievement in Realism in Colored Pencil."
Students were challenged to create works of art inspired by a piece they viewed at the museum. The museum chose 100 students this year from approximately 400 entries.
“We are so unbelievable proud of the exceptional work by these young artists,” said Cheryl Fontana, the district’s Director of the Fine & Performing Arts. “It is so clear by looking at their work how much heart and soul they pour into their art; their pieces are a true example of wellness at its best.”
The exhibition has been postponed until further notice, however you can view the exhibition online; https://www.heckscher.org/gallery/?post=6021
