Christina McQuillan’s photograph depicts her father and grandfather upholding a familial tradition.
Christina McQuillan, a junior at John F. Kennedy High School, earned honorable mention in this year’s Tracce D’Italia in New York photo contest.
Hosted by the American Association of Teachers of Italian, the contest asks students to submit pictures finding “Traces of Italy” in the New York region.
“The picture depicts the student’s father and grandfather making tomato sauce together while keeping up with traditions,” explained her teacher Nicolina Alfieri.
