Kennedy High School implemented its first DEI Day and Virtual Pep Rally on April 22.

“Our students purchased T-shirts to show their solidarity for the district’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiative,” explained Principal Gerard Owenburg. “Additionally, Cougar TV produced a virtual pep rally to showcase athletes and to highlight the mission through an interview conducted with a representative from Erase Racism.”

Junior students, Desiree Rigaud and Michelle Brown hosted their third Diverse Dialogues event after school on the topic of anti-Semitism.

Around the school, students posted motivational quotes and thinking prompts about diversity, equity and inclusion, and had the opportunity to snap a picture with the mascot, Ken the Cougar.

“It is events such as this that have led JFK to continuously be recognized as an Anti-Defamation League No Place for Hate School,” added Owenburg.
