Emma DeOliveira, a 11th grade student at Mepham High School in the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District, was recently awarded the Nassau County SHIELD Award (Service, Honesty, Integrity, Excellence, Leadership and Duty).
The SHIELD award, created by Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas, is “presented to high school juniors who have showed an outstanding strength of character, commitment to self-growth, and the spirit and initiative to bring about positive change in their community.”
