Bellmore-Merrick Broadcasting seniors AJ Fried and Michele Spiller achieved a unique milestone with their 100th broadcast on June 9.

“Fried and Spiller began hosting the BMB Morning Announcements as freshmen, along with fellow BMB senior Jake Winckelmann who hosts Around Campus,” explained program director Stu Stein. “Through the years, AJ and Michele developed their own unique chemistry and became synonymous with BMB in general and the BMB Morning Announcements specifically.”

During the school shutdown in 2020, Fried and Spiller hosted 13 straight weeks of episodes from their homes while Fried also took on responsibility for producing the 87 consecutive BMB Daily Reports.

“Returning to school this year, AJ and Michele and the rest of the BMB crew were back on the air even before the first day of school with ‘BMB Goes Back to School’ and they remained a constant throughout this entire year of hybrid, virtual and in-person learning,” added Stein.

"In the years to come, we will have plenty of students sit at our virtual anchor desk,” said Broadcasting teacher Lisa Kalish, who then explained that she’ll always think of AJ and Michele when she hears the “Morning Announcements.”

Next year, Fried will be attending West Virginia University while Spiller be studying at SUNY New Paltz.
