Mepham High School entered its first female wrestling tournament in school history at Copiague High School’s “Queen of the Mat” tournament.

“Yianna Foufas and Talia Robles have worked extremely hard in order to place in this tournament,” said coach Ken Richards. “These girls have worked tirelessly all off season and this is just the beginning of their success.”

Foufas went 4-0, all by way of pin, and Robles went 2-2, earning third place.

This all-female high school tournament was first held on Long Island in 2019. Foufas and Robles also wrestle on club teams outside of Mepham High School.
