Dear Parents:
Yesterday morning at approximately 7:15AM, a Grand Avenue female student was approached on Newbridge Road close to Newbridge Road School by an adult African American male with dreadlocks riding a rusty green bicycle. The man asked her several questions including; “What is your name?”, “What school do you go to?”, “Are you waiting for the bus?”, and “Where do you live?” The student did not respond and the man departed saying his name was Matthew and wishing her a good day at school.
The incident is being reported to the police and we will be asking for increased patrols in the area. It is always a good idea to proactively talk to your children about safe practices and how to handle difficult situations.
