During Foreign Language Week, Christine O'Neill's Spanish II classes at Mepham High School took a virtual field trip to Cuba. The tour included three cities: Santa Clara, Havana and Camagüey.
Google Cardboard viewers, purchased through a district grant, transformed student smartphones into a virtual reality experience. The new technology provides students with an opportunity to explore the different sights and sounds of Spanish-speaking communities around the world.
“The students enjoyed themselves and it was exciting to see them enthused about ‘virtually’ visiting a Spanish-speaking country,” O’Neill said.
