Four students in the Central School District have been named National Merit Semifinalists in the 2019 competition.

John Berry and Kyle Ednie from Mepham and James Hayes and Sidra Naheed from Kennedy high schools were all included on the list.

“We are once again proud to highlight the accomplishments of our dedicated students,” said Superintendent John DeTommaso.

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. The nationwide pool of semifinalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest scoring entrants in each state.

Finalists will be notified in February.
