Mepham High School was honored to host Holocaust survivor, author and international educator, Irving Roth, on May 7 for a special assembly.

Adelphi student teacher, Rebecca Singer, arranged this opportunity after having met Roth at his temple and research center located in Manhasset.

Over 100 ninth graders from Linu Chacko's and Mr. Morris' classes were able to listen to Roth's experiences as a 10-year-old growing up in Czechoslovakia, with no idea of how his life was about to change.

The students listened attentively to his inspiring and powerful story and then asked him questions, gaining invaluable lessons as a culmination to their Holocaust unit in English class.

Roth asked the students to promise to remember his story and pass it on to their children, and to speak up whenever they see evil taking place around them.
