Several students in high school district were named All-State and All-State Alternates by the New York State School Music Association.

All-State designees Alaina Anderson (mixed chorus), Julia Losner (mixed choir) and Logan Strobing (wind ensemble) of Calhoun and Skylar Berkley (clarinet) and John Duroseau (mixed chorus) of Kennedy were recognized by the board of education at the Oct. 5 meeting.

Alternates Samantha Adams (violist) and Emily Herrera (vocalist) from John F. Kennedy High School and John Beck (jazz trumpet), Ryan Flash (French horn), Sarah Kaplan (vocalist) and Logan Strobing (jazz trumpet) from Sanford H. Calhoun High School were also honored.

“These students are no strangers to musical accolades and have an unwavering work ethic aimed at enriching their high school musical experiences,” said Cheryl Fontana, director of fine & performing arts and adult education.
