H1N1 and the Opening of School

District staff participated in state and county forums to prepare our schools to deal with a potential high incidence of H1N1 this fall.  The district will continue to have custodians in each school clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as desktops and door handles.  School nurses will also visit all physical education classes this fall to meet with students and review preventative measures.

Parents should keep any student with flu-like symptoms home from school, and the current state and CDC guideline is that students should remain home for 24 hours after the symptoms have cleared.  We will continue to work closely with the Nassau County Department of Health and the New York State Department of Health to monitor developments and coordinate appropriate and effective responses in each of our schools.

Future bulletins will be posted to the district and school homepages.
