Long Island Science Congress Virtual Research Competition Awards

Students from Bellmore-Merrick’s Science Research programs recently competed at their final science competition for the school year, the Long Island Science Congress.Each student was asked to record a presentation of no more than 5 minutes long, providing a summary of their completed researchproject. 

The LISC began in 1949 under the auspices of the New York State Science Teachers Association and is known as the prominent competition on Long Island. 

 
Mepham High School 

Ameziane Aouchieche, Justin Dioguardiand Adhith Jacob received Honorable Mention awards. Mustafa Bukhari, Louis Fratello, Marissa Parrin, Sahara Partap, Nicholas Reardon and Gabriella Simal received Meritorious awards. 


Kennedy High School 

Dylan Estrin and Sammer Soliman received Achievement awards. Nicole Bungo, Ashley Cotroneo, Natalia Fakinos, Luke Feldman and Sarina Khan received Honorable Mention awards. Alyssa Farber, Ty Gelman, Benhamin Greco, Samantha Levine and Amanda Levine received Meritorious awards. 

Jessica Blumberg and Joshua Sheldon both got honors andTyler Bissoondial got highest honors and best in category. He advanced to the New York State Science Congress in Syracuse. 


Calhoun High School 

Tina Cheng received an Achievement award. Eric Avellone, Gabriella Klimov, Colleen McGrath, Brian Ren, and Conlan Shea received Meritorious awards. Rachel Getzler, Brendan Higgins, Saniya Purewal, and Madison Witte received Honorable Mention awards. 


Grand Avenue Middle School 

Daniel Lin and Joseph Litman won High Honors and a Green Planet Award.Tristan Bissoondial was awarded High Honors. Salvatore LoBrutto Jr. was awarded an Achievement Award. Jordyn Dioguardi, Emma Gallagher, Brigid Flanagan, Hallie Gillison, and Temidire Oladeji each were awarded a Meritorious Award in the biology category. 

 
Merrick Avenue Middle School 

Jason Lin and Mia Zampella were recognized for their work and received the Honors award.  Both Ryan Levinter and Luke Pierce earned Honorable Mention.  Ruby Cilibrasi, Vincent Fuggio, Ryan Kenny, Sofia Ricci, Thomas Rossi and Jordan Siegel received the Meritorious award.
