Mepham raised over $6,000 at this year's annual Battle of the Classes held on May 19.

All proceeds from the event were donated to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation as part of the Participation in Government classes Senior Service Learning Project, bringing Mepham's fundraising total this year to over $75,000.

Just under 1,000 students were in attendance for Battle of the Classes which was last held prior to the pandemic in November 2019.

The night was organized by Participation in Government teachers, Kerry Dennis and Chris Patten along with class advisers Erica Wagner, Jen Malone, Allyson Alciviades, Kristen Montuori, Jaclyn Kratzer, Danielle Ruscio, Sabrina Casiraro and Briana Rubenstein.

“Students competed against each other and the faculty in a variety of relay events, the tug of war, oversized volleyball, a dance and the famed Pirate Relay,” explained Patten.

“Students also competed in events throughout the year including the 12th annual Penny Wars, book collection for the MLK Day of Service, fundraising for St. Baldrick’s and t-shirt sales,” added Dennis. “The event truly showcased the spirit and generosity of the Mepham community. It felt so good to be back.”
