CHSD Boasts 14 National Merit Commended Students

A total of 14 students in the Central High School District have been named Commended Students in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program.

They include Jessica Blumberg, Gavin Chen, Alyssa Feig, Luke Feldman, Benjamin Greco, David Greenberg, Coby Jutsen, Massimo Marino and Handsome Zheng of Kennedy High School and Joseph Fiscella, Ava Fisher, Serena Palmer, Shardul Singh and Evana Toumazatos of Calhoun High School.

“This distinction once again recognizes the investment our students have in their education,” said Michael Harrington, superintendent of schools. “The instructional support they receive in Bellmore-Merrick sets up our students for success.”

The 14 Bellmore-Merrick students are among approximately 34,000 Commended Students from across the nation who are being recognized as part of the National Merit program. Commended Students placed among the top 3% of 1.5 million students who entered the 2023 Merit Program by taking the 2021 PSAT/National Merit Scholarship qualifying test.
