This year, Grand Avenue partnered with the North Bellmore Elementary School District to serve the Bellmore-Merrick community to help children in need during the holidays.

The charitable focus of this year's Turkey Trot on Nov. 21 was to provide new and unused winter hats, gloves, and scarves to the Lions' Club Polar Express.

“Despite the chilly weather, the kind-hearted compassion and generosity of Grand Avenue's students warmed the event,” explained Spanish teacher/athletic director and event organizer Benjamin Fisher. “Over 250 Grand Avenue student participants walked, jogged, trotted, wobbled, and danced their way through the event.”

More than 100 individual items were donated by students to be provided to the Polar Express.
