On Oct. 29, the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District’s Family Project club celebrated together their annualHalloweendanceat Merrick Avenue Middle School.
The studentsdanced the night away thanks to DJ Zinke, who graciously volunteered to provide the music for the event. The MAMS gym was adorned with spookyHalloweenballoons, decorations and a large banner constructed by the students of Family Project the weeks prior. FunHalloweenactivities included coloringHalloweenpictures, guessing the number of candy corn, and goody bags on their way out.
“Our students had a blast and we are looking forward to the next few weeks of Family Project to close out our winter season,” explained special education teacher and event co-organizer Lauren Beinert.
Family Project is a club held at Merrick Avenue from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings to foster socialization opportunities for students with disabilities and their peers through recreational activities such as crafting or playing in the gym.
