Kaitlyn Stibritz, a senior at Calhoun High School qualified for the New York State Cross Country Championships by finishing as the fourth individual in the Section 8 State Qualifier meet.
Stibritz ran a personal best time at Bethpage State Park of 19:26.0.Heading into the State Championships at Queensbury High School, Kaitlyn was ranked 36th in Class B.
“She ran a gutsy race and finished 27th overall in Class B, a full nine spots ahead of her ranking,” explained Coach Kristin Frazer.
She ran an impressive 19:30.3 on a hilly, upstate course.
“Kaitlyn led the Calhoun Cross Country team all season and won four of our five league races,” Frazer added. “Kaitlyn also finished in theTop 5 at every invitational we attended, which is a tremendous accomplishment.”
Stibritz was third at theNassau County Championship meet, earning All County Honors for the fourth straight yearand was also named to the All Section team, representing both Section 8 and Calhoun HS at the State Championships.
As an additional honor, Stibritz also earned the Section 8 Class B Sportsmanship Representative at theState Championship.
