The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District participates in the United States Department of Agriculture Federal Child Nutrition Program. School lunches must meet 1/3 of the dietary guidelines for Americans, which recommend no more than 30% of calories from fat and less than 10% calories from saturated fat. Regulations also, establish a standard for a school lunch to provide 1/3 of the established recommended dietary allowance of protein, vitamin A, vitamin C, iron, calcium and calories for a specific age group. One five day week of the menu is calculated and averaged to insure the menu meets the requirement.

Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District will follow all current USDA/NYS Child Nutrition guidelines regarding all foods and beverages sold in our schools. It recognizes the role of the consumer in school, the value of education and information to help make informed choices and follows dietary guidelines to choose foods to support good health. It also recognizes some foods are better nutritional choices. For those students who wish to consume snack products which contain no food additives or MSG, we offer a variety of all-natural snacks on the service line. Our vending machine offerings will also follow all current USDA and NYS Child Nutrition guidelines with regard to snacks and beverages.

Ala-carte breakfast offerings are available at the high schools.
