On behalf of the faculty and staff of John F. Kennedy High School I would like to welcome you to our school’s website. We are proud to be part of a community filled with rich traditions and that places a high value on exceptional educational experiences for all students.  This website is designed to provide you with the most up-to-date information about our school. At Kennedy, there are 48 interscholastic teams and 28 clubs to help develop our students’ talents and leadership skills. I encourage students to involve themselves in athletics, fine and performing arts or any of the many clubs or service organizations available at our school. Research is clear that those students who immerse themselves in the extracurricular offerings of the school are more likely to be successful in their classes and in their lives after high school. The leadership opportunities and teamwork skills learned in those activities will benefit students for the rest of their lives.

Kennedy continues to be recognized in Newsweek’s listing of America’s Best High Schools and as a New York State Education Department Reward School. These distinctions are based on our school’s commendable levels of achievement and high number of students enrolled in advanced placement courses. In addition to a diverse selection of elective courses, we offer special programs, including Advanced Science Research in the Science Department, Virtual Enterprise in the Business Department, Gilder Lehrman Research in the Social Studies Department, and a technology and engineering program. Kennedy is also home to the district’s Culinary and Hospitality Applied Management program (CHAMP). Our students continue to win awards in all areas and are accepted to the most prestigious colleges and universities in the country.

I encourage you to visit our website often for information about our school and to follow the success of our students.

Your Partner in Education,

Gerard J. Owenburg
