A Summer of Discovery

This summer, a group of incoming students in grades 7-9 from the district participated in the district’s Summer STEAM Camp, through which they dove into hands-on projects that blended science, technology, engineering, art and math.
Incoming seventh grade students were introduced to coding, fly drones, 3D printing and more, while eighth and ninth grade students expanded upon their coding skills and were introduced to VEX robotics. Their experienced culminated in a mini hackathon and robotics competition.
For many students, this camp was not only about learning but making new friends and exploring new topics in a fun, supportive environment.
The district extends its appreciation to Danielle Caliendo, district chairperson of mathematics and computer science, for her efforts in coordinating this year’s camp.
