MAMS Classes Celebrate Hispanic, Italian Heritage Months

Students in Spanish and Italian classes at Merrick Avenue celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month and Italian Heritage Month with creativity and culture.
In Spanish classes, students explored the life and legacy of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, diving into themes of identity and self-expression. Inspired by her work, they created self-portraits and wrote short biographies to share their own stories—just like Frida did through her art.
In Italian class, students gave the iconic Mona Lisa a 21st-century makeover. They blended classic art with modern imagination to design their own version of the famous painting, complete with Italian-language bios for their updated Mona Lisa 2025.
