Bellmore-Merrick is hosting its 12th Drug Take Back Day event on Saturday, October 25, from 10am to 1pm at the Brookside School, located at 1260 Meadowbrook Road, Merrick. Unneeded prescription drugs, including controlled substances, will be collected for safe and legal disposal.  

To combat abuse and misuse of prescription medications by safely disposing unwanted and expired medications. The drug take backprogram provides a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of prescription drugs, while also educating the community about the potential for abuse of medications. Additionally, the event helps the environment by discouraging people from using the typical disposal method, flushing unused pills, or dumping them in the solid waste stream. This keeps them out of the drinking water system and landfills.
