Kennedy Safe Halloween Boasts Festive Family Fun

Kennedy High School welcomed elementary-age students and their families for its annual Safe Halloween celebration, a community favorite that brought festive fun, creativity, and school spirit to life in a secure setting.
The event was organized by the Student Government Association (SGA) under the guidance of advisor Brad Seidman and the leadership team. High school clubs, teams, and student groups set up themed tables throughout the parking lot, offering arts and crafts, games, and activities designed especially for younger visitors. Children also enjoyed inflatable slides, a bounce house, and giant lawn games, creating an afternoon full of excitement and laughter.
“This annual event continues to highlight the district’s commitment to fostering connection, creativity, and community engagement, offering local families a fun and safe way to celebrate Halloween,” noted Seidman.
Adding to the Halloween magic, senior students transformed their cars for a trunk or treat experience, decorating them with imaginative, spooky, and funny themes to hand out candy safely.
Entertainment filled the event thanks to a Nassau County-provided showmobile, which served as a stage for live performances. The school’s chamber orchestra, led by Emily Kenyon, performed Halloween-themed pieces, while the Cougar Rock Band, directed by math chair David Prince, brought energy to the crowd with rock favorites. The cheerleading and kickline squads also wowed attendees with high-energy stunt routines.
Inside the building, the district’s English as a New Language (ENL) program, housed at Kennedy and led by Heather Glick, Jenna Harclerode, and Mae Cabrera, transformed a classroom into a haunted house fundraiser. Complete with movie-quality props, costumes, and makeup, the attraction thrilled visitors while supporting the program.
