The University of Delaware chorale visited Kennedy High School on Oct. 27 for performances and a collaborative workshop.

The visit was organized by music teacher/choir director Rachel Shapiro, a University of Delaware alumna and former chorale member.

“The University of Delaware chorale is one of the most accomplished choirs on the east coast and their conductor, Dr. Paul Head, is an incredibly passionate educator and clinician,” she explained.

Shapiro said her goal of this visit was to open the choir community and connect with people through music. She even sang with the chorale for a number.

“Students were able to see an extremely high level of musicianship and what is possible if they continue singing in choirs,” she explained. “Having this experience hopefully helps make the bond of the group even better and continues to motivate my students.”

Members of the Kennedy concert choir were captivated listening to the University of Delaware Chorale perform.

“They came alive when they got to actually sing with the chorale,” she added.
