    Freshman (2027) and Junior (2025) Class Elections:

    If you are interested in running for office, please read the following directions carefully. Pay particular attention to the due dates.

    1. Print out two (2) copies of the Nominating Recommendation Form
       
    2. Ask two (2) teachers to complete the Nominating Recommendation Form
       
    3. Submit the two (2) completed Nominating Recommendation Forms to:
      • Class of 2027: Submit to Ms. Mooney or Ms. Roth by Friday, 9/22/23 or later.
      • Class of 2025: Submit to Ms. Rubenstein or Ms. Casiraro by Friday, 9/22/23 or later.
         
    4. Candidates can begin campaigning once all nomination forms are submitted and approved by class advisers (No earlier than 9/26). You may hang posters and signs in the corridor on either side of the Main Office. Please use scotch tape to hang your posters. Posters may not be hung within ten feet of any exit. DO NOT PLACE POSTERS ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE BUILDING. They will be removed and discarded. Do not use any types of stickers on lockers or walls. All posters MUST be approved by class supervisors PRIOR to hanging them. Candidates are NOT allowed to hand out campaign items to students (ex: pens, pencils, “gifts”, etc.).
       
    5. Create a video that is under two (2) minutes on Flipgrid emphasizing your past accomplishments along with your proposals to help improve your class in the coming year. Refrain from making promises that you will not be able to keep (e.g., class trips, days off, etc.). NO COPYRIGHT MATERIALS! This includes music and images. 
      • Videos must be submitted no later than Monday, 10/2. 
      • See your advisor for the code to upload your video.

    When voting. . . Please follow these directions, and pay special attention to the voting window dates.

     

    1. Sign in to your school email account to vote. The links below will not work if you are not signed in to this account.
       
    2. View each candidate's video to become an informed voter. Click your class link below to see all candidate videos.
       
    3. Vote for ONE candidate per office.
       
    4. Submit ONE online ballot per person.
       
    5. The voting window will open on 10/2 at 7:30 AM and close on September 30 at 2:15 PM.
       
    6. Go to Flipgrid and use the following codes for your class:

    8. Attention: Students are ONLY PERMITTED to vote for their own class election. Any students voting for a class election other than their own will face behavioral consequences.

     

  • This program is available to 9th and 10th grade students who have difficulty meeting homework deadlines. It meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. in the Room 303. Parents or students may contact the Assistant Principal 516-992-1502 for more specific information.  

  • Lockers are to be treated with care, as they are the property of the school. Any defacing of school property will result in disciplinary action. All students are asked to make certain that their lockers are locked after each use. A student's locker may be inspected by a school official if there is sufficient cause to do so without notice or consent from the student(s) in question.

  • The Lost and Found is located in Room 125.

  • When students have a concern or problem, they usually turn to one of their peers and then perhaps to an adult.  Peers are able to share and identify with one another’s needs and issues in a special way.  When students have been specially trained in leadership skills, their ability to make a positive difference becomes very significant.  A peer leader has the opportunity to be a positive and supportive influence in the lives of many people.  More importantly, peer leaders learn about themselves and become more educated about the topic they are addressing through their interaction with other students.

  • Student ID cards are issued every year. In this age of heightened security, students are required to carry their ID cards at all times. They are required for admission to afternoon and evening activities. Replacements can be obtained in Room 125.

  • Directions for completing application:

    1. Physical Fitness Certification – This form must show that the student has been seen by a physician within the past year and is able to work. It must have an official doctor’s stamp. If the school nurse has a current medical form on file from your doctor she can sign this form for you.
    2. Application for Employment Certificate – You will only have to fill out Part 1 of this form, including the last four digits of the student’s social security number and the signature of a parent or guardian.
    3. Both forms are to be returned to the Main Office, where the working card will be prepared. Please allow at least 24 hours for processing.
    4. The working card must be picked up by the student and signed by the student only.
    5. For students who do not attend Mepham– you must also bring in your birth certificate with the completed form for proof of age.
