Mepham Celebrates Homecoming with Festivities and Football Victory
Mepham High School celebrated a spirited Homecoming weekend, culminating in a thrilling 24-21 victory over Levittown’s MacArthur High School on Sept. 20.
The week-long celebration brought together students, staff, alumni, and the community through long-standing traditions, including hallway decorating, a high-energy pep rally, and the beloved Pirate Festival. During halftime, the school’s cheerleaders and kickline squad delivered dynamic performances, while students took on roles as the Pirate mascot and game emcees, keeping school spirit high. The pep band, led by Anthony Brandofino, provided musical interludes throughout the game.
The local chapter of the Vietnam War Veterans Association presents the colors before the Nassau Conference II football game. Several individuals were inducted into Mepham High School’s inaugural Hall of Fame, honoring their lasting contributions to the school community.
Homecoming festivities concluded with a well-attended dance, where the Homecoming Court was formally recognized. Halen Songco and King Ryan Lechleitner were crowned Homecoming queen and king, respectively, marking a joyful end to a week filled with pride, tradition, and school unity.
