Kennedy’s Brad Seidman Honored with 2025 Long Island High School Hero Award

Brad Seidman, a 22-year educator at Kennedy High School, was among the 26 educators recognized as a 2025 Long Island School Hero honoree.
This award, given by the Long Island Coalition Against Bullying (LICAB), recognizes educators who go above and beyond to create a safe, inclusive, and positive school environment.
After being honored at a reception at the Stonebridge Golf & Country Club in Smithtown on Oct. 20, Seidman noted that he ‘saw the award as a reflection of the wonderful community at Kennedy” and expressed gratitude for the support of Principal Gerard Owenburg and social studies chairperson Ann Donaldson.
“My work is only possible thanks to the people around me,” he added. “I also work alongside dedicated colleagues who consistently invest themselves in our students' projects.”
Seidman added that he is often impressed and inspired by his students, most recently those in the School & Leadership program and student government.
“My entire approach as an educator has been to place students in positions where they can succeed, and I believe that mindset has been the foundation of their growth,” he added. “I have simply been the beneficiary of their vision, their creativity, and their genuineness. This award is truly a testament to their success and their spirit.”
He serves as the advisor to the Kennedy Student Government and the co-advisor of the school newspaper, The Cougar Crier. Last school year, Seidman also formed the Unity Council, which consists of the presidents of the various cultural student associations at the high school.
