Family Project Club Hosts Annual Halloween Dance at MAMS

The Central High School District’s Family Project club hosted its annual Halloween Dance on Oct. 28 at Merrick Avenue Middle School, bringing students together for an evening of fun, friendship, and festive celebration.
Students danced the night away to music provided by DJ Zinke, who generously volunteered his time for the event. The Merrick Avenue gymnasium was transformed into a spooky celebration space, complete with Halloween-themed balloons, decorations, and a large handcrafted banner designed by Family Project members and the Natural Helpers Club in the weeks leading up to the dance.
Throughout the evening, students enjoyed a variety of seasonal activities, including coloring Halloween pictures, guessing the number of candy corn, and collecting goody bags to take home.
“Our students had a blast, and we’re looking forward to the next few months of Family Project as we continue to collaborate on other social connections,” said special education teacher and event organizer Lauren Beinert.
Family Project is held at Merrick Avenue Middle School on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The club fosters socialization and connection among students with disabilities and their peers through inclusive recreational activities such as crafting, dancing, and gym play.
