Mepham Seniors Install 11th Flag Field of Honor

The Mepham High School Class of 2026 recently completed the installation of its 11th Annual Flag Field of Honor, a school tradition that honors service and community spirit.
The project was led by social studies teachers Kerry Dennis and Chris Patten, as well as Robyn Einbinder, department chairperson, as part of the Senior Service Learning Project, in partnership with the Ronald McDonald House. Superintendent Michael Harrington, Principal Anthony DeMartinis and Mepham Library Media Specialist Shari Stack were also present on Nov. 2 to lend a hand.
The school’s custodial staff also played a crucial role in the day’s success, coordinating supplies, laying out the flag locations, and ensuring that all safety guidelines were followed.
Ronald McDonald Houses offer free accommodations and support to families with children undergoing medical treatment at nearby hospitals. The local house, situated near Cohen Children’s Medical Center in New Hyde Park, provides families with a comforting place to stay and enjoy home-cooked meals—many of which Mepham seniors have volunteered to prepare.
Since its inception in 2009, the Mepham Senior Service Learning Project has raised more than $815,000 for local and national charities, thanks to the ongoing generosity and support of the school community.
The Flag Field of Honor will remain on display through Dec. 8 along the front lawn of the school’s Camp Avenue campus.
