On Dec. 23, Merrick Avenue Middle School’s select vocal ensemble, Word of Mouth, under the direction of Dana Brandwein, went caroling to spread holiday cheer at Amber Court Assisted Living in Westbury and The Seasons in East Meadow, a senior retirement community.  

The group performed beloved holiday classics along with selections from their winter concert repertoire for residents.  

“Everyone enjoyed the festive visit, making it a memorable experience for performers and audience alike,”  explained Dana Brandwein, the director of choral activities at Merrick Avenue Middle School. 

Word of Mouth has shared this special tradition of caroling at local assisted living facilities on the day before winter break for 24 years and counting, a heartwarming custom that truly captures the holiday spirit.​
