Spring Market Showcases Student Talent and Inclusion at Calhoun

The second annual Spring Market at Calhoun High School was held on April 1, bringing together students, staff, and the community for a vibrant celebration of student entrepreneurship, creativity, and inclusion.
“We are excited to showcase the many vocational businesses across our building and district,” said Melissa Rohr, special education chair.
The event featured participation from a wide range of programs and student groups, including COORE classes, DSP, Cosmetology, World of Difference, Buddy Club, and Prep for the Future. The Stable school store was also represented, along with students from the CHOICE program and members of the Grand Avenue Inclusivity Club. Attendees had the opportunity to browse and purchase a variety of student-made goods, including artwork, plants, and holiday sweets.
A highlight of the event was the school’s pop-up COORE-FEE shop, where students gained hands-on experience serving coffee, interacting with customers, and managing transactions. Designed to teach essential daily living and vocational skills, the program offers students meaningful opportunities to build confidence and workplace readiness in a supportive environment.
“We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication demonstrated by our students, teachers, and paraprofessionals in these classes and clubs,” Rohr added.
In addition to celebrating student achievement, the Spring Market also served as Calhoun’s recognition of World Autism Day, typically observed on April 2, and marked the kickoff of Autism and Neurodiversity Acceptance Month.
The event underscored the district’s commitment to fostering an inclusive community that values and supports all learners.
