Grand Avenue Science Research Students Showcase Projects at Science Fair

Students in the Grand Avenue Middle School Science Research Program concluded another successful competition season by hosting a Science Fair on May 7.
Organized by the Students Network of Cooperative Science, the event provided 18 students with an opportunity to showcase their science research projects to family members, friends, faculty, administrators, and members of the school community.
Under the guidance of science research teacher Tami Cruz, students presented a wide range of projects highlighting their dedication to scientific inquiry, innovation, and problem-solving.
“This was an opportunity for the students to present their science research projects to family, friends, school faculty and administrators, and other supporters,” added Cruz. “The fair celebrated the hard work and accomplishments of the program’s student researchers throughout the school year.”
During the 2025-26 school year, students in the program competed in two prestigious regional competitions: the LISEF-SSP Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovation Challenge and the Long Island Science Congress. Several students earned placements in the LISEF-SSP Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovation Challenge, with results from the Long Island Science Congress still pending.
“The science fair was a great opportunity for our students to share their passion for research and discovery with the school community,” added Heather Bizewski, science chair. “We are incredibly proud of their hard work, perseverance, and achievements throughout the year.”
