LILAC Gambone Winners at GAMS and Calhoun

Seventh grader Xiyue Luo was selected as the third-place winner of the Kenneth F. Gambone Writing Contest. Xiyue was nominated by her English teacher, Ms. Billia to participate in the contest back in March. She submitted an entry about the theme “Dream with your eyes open…” and was selected by the as one of five Grand Avenue representatives. After submitting a second entry about a topic of her choice, Xiyue was selected by the Long Island Language Arts Council as the third-place winner out of all of the Nassau and Suffolk County seventh grade entries. She was recently honored at the LILAC annual spring luncheon.
Addtionally, Calhoun sophomore Lizzie Martin was selected as the second-place winner of the Kenneth F. Gambone Writing Contest. Lizzie was nominated by her English teacher, Ms. Boland to participate in the contest back in March. She submitted an entry about the theme “Dream with your eyes open…” and was selected by the English department as one of four Calhoun representatives. After submitting a second entry about a topic of her choice, Lizzie was selected by the Long Island Language Arts Council as the second place winner out of all of the Nassau and Suffolk County tenth grade entries. Lizzie was recently honored at the LILAC annual spring luncheon.
