The Kennedy High School girls lacrosse team clinched the Nassau County Conference V Championships on June 8, for the first time in program history.

“This season we were very excited to get back out on the field and prove what we could have done last year if it weren’t for the pandemic,” explained coach Mallory Freely.

Losing to Freeport, 6-5 in triple overtime their first match up this season, the Cougars were determined to make a comeback.

“We defeated them the second time, 13-5, to seal the deal and claim the title,” Freely added. “We finished with a record of 12-1 for conference V. This is the first year that we have every attacker on the score board and it was the entire team effort for all of our success.”
