Music is in the Air at Bellmore-Merrick CHSD

Students in the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District Drama Clubs have been busy preparing for their upcoming musicals.

The season kicks off March 17-18, at 7 p.m. with the two middle school productions: “Guys & Dolls, Jr.” at Grand Avenue and “Grease” (school edition) at Merrick Avenue.   

Up next is John F. Kennedy High School’s production of the family favorite, “Shrek the Musical” with evening performances from March 18-19, at 7:30 p.m.  There will also be a 2 p.m. matinee on March 19 with a special cast meet and greet from 1-1:30 p.m.

The Sanford H. Calhoun High School On Tour Company continues the fun with “All Shook Up,” inspired by and featuring the songs of Elvis Presley.  Performances are held March 19 and April 1-2, at 7:30 p.m.

Families are invited to attend the Little Elvis Sock Hop 50s Family Dance Party on April 2, from 1-3:30 p.m. The event features kid-friendly activities and treats such as egg creams, popcorn, cotton candy and more. Attendees are encouraged to arrive in costume. For tickets, call 516-992-1377.

Finally, Wellington C. Mepham High School’s Skull and Bones Drama Club rounds out the season with the musical comedy, “Legally Blonde,” based on the hit feature film. Performances are from April 7-9, at 7 p.m.
