On May 18, the Central High School District Chamber Orchestra competed at the NYSSMA Majors Festival hosted at Hofstra University.
The elite string students, representing each high school in Bellmore-Merrick, rehearsed every Wednesday night to prepare three pieces to play at the event. This was the first time that any group in the CHSD competed at this festival in more than 30 years. After countless hours of practice and hard work, the students achieved a perfect score of Gold with Distinction, the highest honor awarded at the festival.
The group, along with their conductor and teacher Eric Vivelo, are excited for their future endeavors and believe their potential is limitless.
