Spring Events
1. The first is St. Baldrick’s on March 17. http://www.stbaldricks.org/events/calhounhs. Please also see the flyer below titled “Buffed for Baldricks” if you want to participate, but do not want to shave your head.
2. On Saturday, March 21 at 9AM, Bellmore-Merrick will host the “One
Voice One Message One Run” 5K race with all proceeds benefitting the
Pediatric Care Unit at Memorial Sloan Kettering. It will begin and end
at Grand Ave. Middle School with a pass through Merrick Ave. Middle

3. The third big event in our cancer fundraising events is the Relay for
Life here at Calhoun on April 24-25. I’ve let you know about it before
and as we get closer, I will need more parents to help with food
donations. Most importantly, we want parents to form teams, participate
in the event, and be a part of the night. Here is the link to register,
form a team, and make a donation:

If you are not sure what Relay for Life is all about, come to the PTSA
meeting on February 24 to hear from students about the event and how to
get involved. The meeting will be in our W. Cafeteria at 7:30 PM.
4. With heroin addiction and overdoses on the rise, I urge you to
consider getting training in how to use NARCAN, a lifesaving drug for
someone overdosing on heroin. This important training will be at
Brookside on Tuesday, March 10 from 7-9 in the boardroom. See the flyer
below titled, “Last-FINAL-Narcan Flyer 2015-Community.pdf”
